Spam and Abuse
Part of the Terms of Service for using the MyPorsche911.co.uk website. MyPorsche911.co.uk or m911 strives to protect it's users from spam and abuse. Technical abuse and user abuse is not tolerated on myporsche911.co.uk, and will result in permanent suspension. Any accounts engaging in the activities specified below are subject to permanent suspension. Serial Accounts: You may not create serial accounts for disruptive or abusive purposes, or with overlapping use cases. Mass account creation may result in suspension of all related accounts. Please note that any violation of the m911 rules and guidelines is cause for permanent suspension of all accounts. Username Squatting: You may not engage in username squatting. Accounts that are inactive for more than 6 months may also be removed without further notice. Some of the factors that we take into account when determining what conduct is considered to be username squatting are: - the number of accounts created - creating accounts for the purpose of preventing others from using those account names - creating accounts for the purpose of selling those accounts Invitation spam: You may not use m911's private mesaging system to send unsolicted messages that are commercial in nature, that promoted advertising or which are abusive or defamatory. The messaging system should not be used to invite other members of m911 to join other websites or clubs. Selling user names: Unless you have been specifically permitted to do so in a separate agreement with m911, you agree that you will not reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, trade or resell the Services for any purpose, where "Services" is defined as follows: Your use of m911's products, services and web sites (referred to collectively as the “Services” in this document and excluding any services provided to you by m911r under a separate written agreement) is subject to the terms of a legal agreement between you and m911. Malware/Phishing: You may not publish or link to malicious content intended to damage or disrupt another user’s browser or computer or to compromise a user’s privacy. Spam: You may not use the m911 service for the purpose of spamming anyone. What constitutes “spamming” will evolve as we respond to new tricks and tactics employed by spammers. Some of the factors that we take into account when determining what conduct is considered to be spamming are, but not limited to: - If you have contacted a large amount of members in a short amount of time; - If your updates consist mainly of links, and not related to the content of the m911 website; - If you post misleading links; - If you post unrelated content; - If you post links to unrelated content; - If a large number of people are blocking you; - The number of spam complaints that have been filed against you; - If you post duplicate content over multiple accounts or multiple duplicate updates on one account; - If you post multiple unrelated updates to a trending or popular topic; Pornography: You may not use obscene or pornographic images in either your profile picture or in any posts. Your account may be suspended and/or terminated for Terms of Service violations if any of the above is true. Accounts created to replace suspended accounts will be permanently suspended. Accounts engaging in any of these behaviors may be investigated for abuse. Accounts under investigation may be removed from Search for quality. m911 reserves the right to immediately terminate your account without further notice in the event that, in its judgment, you violate these Rules or the Terms of Service. Anti Spam measures In order to reduce the occurance of spam, m911 has employed a number of automated practices. The principle measures are as follows: URL's in Forum Posts. All new members of the forum will NOT be able to create a post that contains a URL or Website address. Once a user has made 30 or more legitimate posts, their URL privaleges will be re-instated and they will be able to include URLS's and website addresses in their posts. Hopefully this will slow the spammers down a little and I hope genuine new members will understand the reasoning behind my restrictions. URL's in Signature Blocks. All new members of the forum will NOT be able to include URL's in their signature blocks. They can still include plain text. Once they have made 30 or more forum posts, they will be able to include URL's. URL's on user profile page All new members will NOT be able to include a link to a website in the profile page. This has been disabled at registration as well as post registration via the user Control Panel. Again, once the user has made 30 or more forum posts they will be able to include a website address. URL's that are allowed. There will be some URL's that new users will be able to include in their posts while their post copunt is under 30. These include: - www.p101tv.com - www.stuttgartexchange.com - www.myporsche911.co.uk Pasting links to other Forum Threads. While a user post count is below 30, they will still be able to post links between m911 forum threads. Email Domain Restrictions. There are many known domains that spammers use for registering their email address with forums. The forum will now compare those addresses to addresses used at registration. Any match will cause the registration process to be cancelled. _____________________________________________ For the avoidance of doubt, please take the time to familiarise yourself with the m911 Terms of Service, where you can find here: m911 Terms of Service |
