I bought a second pair of aero mirrors. These were produced for the 964 and 993 cars but fit perfectly on the 1974 to 1989 cars. I have comnpletely dissmanteld them and stripped them of their old blue paint and repainted them in Porsche A1 black. I have also wet and dried them as well as polished with a G10 compound.
Here's the mirror hopusings and bases: and here's everything that needs to be re-assembled after painting: In the middle of the pic you'll see a bolt and a number of washers. This is a tool I made up in order to remove the base from the mirror housing. There is a very powerful spring that holds the two pieces together and requires alot of force to compress them before you can take them apart. |
