Why do you need one?
I fired the old girl up last sunday after nearly 4 weeks of all that horrible weather,
she fired up first spin.
If you need one of these I would suggest your battery is a bit suspect.
I would still check the usual culprits, make sure the earths are clean, and vaseline the battery terminals, and earth points.
The biggest drain on a battery is usually the starter lead...........
make sure it's secured properly, and the joints are sound.

Not expensive from Porsche, under £20 each I think.

The world of porsche exhausts!!

Why is it presumed that if you have a porsche your drowning in cash!! Loads of firms advertise stainless exhausts with P.O.A on the 911, but with prices for most other cars, when you phone them most seem to think you dont have any mechanical knowledge or skills trying to explain the expense is due to design. Apart from the heat exchangers there is nothing "unusual" about the system. I worked in fabrication for 25 years, there is nothing special about the design or fabrication.

Rant over, Steve I eventually settled on Type911, cheers for the reccomendation. The fella I spoke with was spot on, straight talking with no "bull" I settled on a full sport`s system in stainless steel, made by Dansk. Although steep at £1500 which is about twice what I wanted to pay, it is complete with all gaskets/joints new header nuts/bolts ect. I found with some suppliers, the advertised price didnt include delivery or gaskets and the new nuts/bolts. So I am expecting delivery sometime this week, lets hope its as good as described.

Craig ;)

Matthew is a top bloke for bits,I use him for most of what I want.
Dansk is probably the best option, top quality, and not as loud as SSI.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL MY FRIENDS WHO WERE BORN IN THE 1940's, 50's, 60's and early 70's !

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they carried us and lived in houses made of asbestos.
They took aspirin, ate blue cheese, raw egg products, loads of bacon and processed meat, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes or cervical cancer.

Then after that trauma, our baby cots were covered with bright coloured lead-based paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets or shoes, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking.

As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags.

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.

Take away food was limited to fish and chips, no pizza shops, McDonald's , KFC, Subway or Nandos.

Even though all the shops closed at 6.00pm and didn't open on the weekends, somehow we didn't starve to death!

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.

We could collect old drink bottles and cash them in at the corner store and buy  Toffees, Gobstoppers, Bubble Gum and some bangers to blow up frogs with.
We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank soft drinks with sugar in it, but we weren't overweight because......

WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of old prams and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. We built tree houses and dens and played in river beds with matchbox cars.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo Wii , X-boxes, no video games at all, no 999 channels on SKY ,
no video/dvd  films,
no mobile phones, no personal computers, no Internet or Internet chat rooms..........WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no
Lawsuits from these accidents.

Only girls had pierced ears!

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

You could only buy Easter Eggs and Hot Cross Buns at Easter time...

We were given air guns and catapults for our 10th birthdays,

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just yelled for them!

Mum didn't have to go to work to help dad make ends meet!

RUGBY and CRICKET had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!! Getting into the team was based on MERIT

Our teachers used to hit us with canes and gym shoes and bully'salways ruled the playground at school.

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of.
They actually sided with the law!

Our parents didn't invent stupid names for their kids like 'Kiora' and 'Blade' and 'Ridge' and 'Vanilla'

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO
DEAL WITH IT ALL !

And YOU are one of them!
CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated our lives for our own good.

And while you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave their parents were.

An American photographer on vacation was inside Westminster Abbey taking photographs when he noticed a golden telephone mounted on the wall with a sign that read '£1,000 per call'.
The American, being intrigued, asked a priest who was strolling by what the telephone was used for.
The priest replied that it was a direct line to heaven and that for £1,000 you could talk to God.
The American thanked the priest and went along his way.
Next stop was in Lincoln
There, at the cathedral, he saw the same golden telephone with the same sign under it.
He wondered if this was the same kind of telephone he saw in London and he asked a nearby nun what its purpose was.
She told him that it was a direct line to heaven and that for £1,000 he could talk to God.
'O.K., thank you,' said the American.
He then travelled to York, Durham and Liverpool
In every Cathedral he saw the same golden telephone with the same '£1,000 per call' sign under it.
The American, upon leaving the N of England decided to travel to Wales to see if the Welsh had the same phone.

He arrived in Cardiff, and again, at LLandaff Cathedral he entered, there was the same golden telephone, but this time the sign under it read  '5 pence per call.'
The American was surprised so he asked the priest about the sign. 'Father, I've travelled all over England and I've seen this same golden telephone in many churches. I'm told that it is a direct line to heaven, but in England the price was £1,000 per call. Why is it only 5 pence here?'

The priest smiled and answered,  'You're in Wales now, boy ... it's a local call.'

From the BBC - by John Cleese.

ANNOUNCEMENT

The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent terrorist threats and have therefore raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved."

Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross." The English have not been "A Bit Cross" since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies nearly ran out. Terrorists have been re-categorized from "Tiresome" to "A Bloody Nuisance." The last time the British issued a "Bloody Nuisance" warning level was in 1588, when threatened by the Spanish Armada.

The Scots have raised their threat level from "Pissed Off" to "Let's get the Bastards." They don't have any other levels. This is the reason they have been used on the front line of the British army for the last 300 years.

The French government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from "Run" to "Hide." The only two higher levels in France are "Collaborate" and "Surrender." The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France 's white flag factory, effectively paralyzing the country's military capability.

Italy has increased the alert level from "Shout Loudly and Excitedly" to "Elaborate Military Posturing." Two more levels remain: "Ineffective Combat Operations" and "Change Sides."

The Germans have increased their alert state from "Disdainful Arrogance" to "Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs." They also have two higher levels: "Invade a Neighbor" and "Lose."

Belgians, on the other hand, are all on holiday as usual; the only threat they are worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels .

The Spanish are all excited to see their new submarines ready to deploy. These beautifully designed subs have glass bottoms so the new Spanish navy can get a really good look at the old Spanish navy.

Australia , meanwhile, has raised its security level from "No worries" to "She'll be alright, Mate." Three more escalation levels remain: "Crikey!",
"I think we'll need to cancel the barbie this weekend", and "The barbie is canceled."

My first event of 2011 this weekend, with the Wyedean Forest Rally.
I'm competeing in the British Historic Rally Championship this year in
a Ford RS2000, proper spec. car.
We are using this rally as a shakedown event.
After a cracking days rallying in the Forest of Dean.
2nd in class and 5 O/A, after a wrong tyre choice for the first 2 stages,
my fault, as my driver has never rallied in the Dean before.
I remember the stages being much smoother than they were
so we opted for a closed block tyre, but it was very muddy and slippery
which meant we dropped 20 seconds to the class winner, got it back to
5 seconds by the end of the day though.

WHILE SHEPHERDS WATCHED
While shepherds watched their flocks by night
All seated on the ground,
The Angel of the Lord came down,
And Glory shone around.

The Union of Shepherds has complained that it breaches Health & Safety
Regulations to insist the shepherds watch their flocks without appropriate
seating arrangements being provided.
Therefore, benches, stools and orthopaedic chairs must be available.
Shepherds have also requested that, due to inclement weather they should
watch their flocks via CCTV cameras behind centrally heated shepherd
observation huts.
The Angel of the Lord is reminded that before shining his / her Glory all
around, the shepherds must be issued with glasses capable of filtering out
any harmful effects of UVA, UVB and Glory lighting.

LITTLE DONKEY
Little donkey, little donkey on the dusty road,
Got to keep on plodding onwards, with your precious load.

The RSPCA has issued strict guidelines with regard to how heavy a load a
donkey of small stature is permitted to carry. Also in the guidelines are
permitted feeding breaks, and at least one rest break in a four-hour
plodding period.
Due to the risk of pollution from the dusty road, Mary and Joseph are
required to wear facemasks.
The 'Little Donkey' has expressed his discomfort as being labelled 'Little'
and would prefer to being simply referred to as 'Mr Donkey'.
Comments upon his height or otherwise are considered to be a breach of his
equine rights.

WE THREE KINGS
We three Kings of Orient are,
Bearing gifts we traverse afar,
Field and fountain,
Moor and Mountain,
Following yonder star.

Whilst the gift of Gold is still considered acceptable - as it may be
redeemed at a later date through such organisations such as 'Cash4Gold'
etc., gifts of Frankincense and Myrrh are not appropriate due to the risk of
oils and fragrances causing allergic reactions.
An acceptable alternative might be a gift voucher.
It is not recommended that traversing Kings should rely on star navigation,
and would advise the use of AA RouteFinder or sat nav.
Both can provide the quickest route and advise on fuel consumption.
As in the case of Mr. Donkey, the three camels require regular rest and food
breaks and facemasks for the three Kings are obligatory due to the
likelihood of desert dust disturbed by the camel hooves.

THE ROCKING CAROL
Little Jesus sweetly sleep, do not stir,
We will lend a coat of fur,
We will rock you, rock you, rock you,
We will rock you, rock you, rock you,

Fur is no longer appropriate wear for small infants due to the risk of
allergy and for ethical reasons.
Therefore, false fur, a cellular blanket or, perhaps, micro-fleece material
should be considered alternatives.
Please note that, only persons who have been subject to a Criminal Records
Bureau (CRB) check and have enhanced clearance will be permitted to rock
Baby Jesus.
Persons must carry their CRB disclosure at all times and be prepared to
provide three forms of identification before any rocking commences.

JINGLE BELLS
Dashing through the snow on a one-horse open sleigh,
Over fields we go - laughing all the way.

A Risk Assessment must be submitted before an open sleigh is considered safe
for members of the public to ride.
The Risk Assessment should also consider whether the use of only one horse
is appropriate - particularly if passengers are of larger proportions.
Permission from landowners must be gained before entering any 'Open Fields'.

To avoid offending those not participating in the venture, it is required
that only 'moderate' laughter is used and not at a noise level likely to be
of nuisance to others.

RUDOLPH THE RED NOSED REINDEER
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, had a very shiny nose,
And if you ever saw it, you would even say it glows,
All of the other reindeer used to laugh and call him names,
They never let poor Rudolph join in any reindeer games.

You are advised that, under the Equal Opportunities Policy, it is
inappropriate for persons to make comment upon the ruddiness of Mr. R.
Reindeer.
Name-calling contravenes our Anti-Bullying policy, and further to this, the
exclusion of Mr. R. Reindeer from any reindeer games will be considered
discriminatory and disciplinary action will be taken against anyone found
guilty of this offence.
A full investigation will be implemented, leading to imposing sanctions such
as a ban from hanging up stockings or enjoying Christmas dinner.

Motul 600, used it for years, never had a problem with brake fade.
Going 'On Track' with a standard road car is always a compromise.
As long as you start off steadilly for 3 or 4 laps, not attack the circuit, late braking and chucking the car about,
you won't have a problem with the standard set up.
I have never boiled my brakes in a road car or competition car, because i drive them accordingly.
Warm everything up PROPERLY, brake normally BEFORE the corner and drive the car through the bends.
Your tyres will take more punishment than the brakes, especially at Spa, which is a high speed circuit with
mostly gentle corners and bends.
But don't worry, we'll look after you.
I don't see a problem as you are not a complete novice, you must remember Porsche cars are 'race bred' so are better
equipped than most for track days.
Also don't believe ALL you read on I.B. some of them spout a lot of ''*ullshit''!!!

Amen to that !

Hu, can your mate at Lloyd rallying get a decent deal on DS2500's? I might get a set before Spa, funds allowing, though not sure yet. Will see how the brand new pads, discs and fluid feel after this weekend. My brakes are like sponge-man bob at the moment!

Very likely he can, E-mail him with what you want.
Your brakes should be as solid as a rock if you have renewed everything,
I would say you need to re-bleed them.
Modern brakes require NO bedding in.

In topic "Carrera Brake Calipers."
I'm going to refurbish a set of F & R brake calipers for my Carrera this weekend,
I'll post up some photo's when I get a chance.
Here they are BEFORE.

Here they are after 3 hrs. of wire brushing and sand blasting,
All ready for new seals, pistons and painting.

I bought them off E-bay for £80!!
I spent another 3 hrs today on the fronts, and gave all 4 a blow over with undercoat,
I'm going to paint them crackle black, with rattle cans fron Halfords, £4 a can.

If you're reading this post on refurbing brake calipers, you might like to know which sand blaster I used,
It's this one, I used Kiln Dried Paving sand from Wickes, which cost £3:80 a bag,I used half a bag
on all 4 calipers.
I soaked the calipers overnight in a bucket of Petrol to get the old paint off, and then cleaned them up
on a rotary wire brush, before sand blasting them.

www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/cl-csb10-sandblaster/path/sandblasting-equipment-and-accessories
All finished, just need the time to fit them!
Fitted the calipers today, and snapped both short front brake pipes!!!
I'l have to wait until tomorrow to borrow my mates brake pipe kit, as I cannot find
mine for the life of me.
I'll post up some pics. tomorrow.
I changed all my Calipers for rebuilt ones this weekend, also fitted stainless
brake hoses.
My problem is, I cannot get a good pedal.
I've tried, up - down bleed method, I've tried, pump up pedal and bleed method,
I've tried servo running, servo not running,
I've bled the master cylinder,
I've tried everything, but still pedal goes to the floor, it will pump up,
but goes straight away again, once you leave it for a minute,
I've used about 2 litres of fluid and been at it for four hours!!!!!
Quote: Pete at Apr 06, 2010 5:19:56 pm
Oh no...  I have had that......  I tried everything you list and in the end it was the master cylinder.  It was fine before I had all the brakes off, but was buggered when I put it back!

Have you tried pressure bleeding as a last resort....

No, not yet, I have a few things to try first, but I am thinking a new Master cylinder is on the cards!
The Saga continues...............................
Fitted a new Master Cylinder today, I now have a half decent pedal,
still not what it should be though.
Another 2 litres of Motul RBF600 wasted!!!!
All built up and ready to fit.

Quote: Pete at Apr 11, 2010 3:01:03 pm
dd you get thw pressure up in the end.....

No mate, I could not get a decent pedal, (wallbash)  so I've taken the car to LotusSport, a mate of mine,
who is going to sort it, and fit all the other bits for me, as I haven't got the time!!!! :happy07:
Finally got my brakes sorted, after taking the car to LotusSport, not perfect, but much better.
Another problem has raised it's ugly head though, it appears my car has been tail ended at
some time in the past, but such a good repair done that I did not notice it!
I wanted him to adjust the rear castor/camber, as N/S is -1, and the O/S is 0.
He was not able to adjust the O/S as it was at it's maximum adjustment, it seems the
spring plate is slightly bent, nothing to get worried about, just needs doing.
The pedal travel is improving with use, although still not right.
Quote: Pete at Jun 02, 2010 11:08:34 pm

No they don't, as the mounting hole spacing if different, although they can be modified or you buy an adapter block.
The braking power is increased as they are 4 pot calipers, as opposed to two pots, and the 964 discs are 3000mm.

Not fitted them yet Steve, as the new Knee is still healing!!!
Not fitted yet, waiting until the weather improves.
As it was such a nice sunny day, I finally got 'Round To It'
and fitted these:
Easy job, just needed new brake pipes, as the originals are too short, bled through easily
with Motul RB600.
After Spa I wondered if it would be worth while doing this conversion, as I was quite happy
with the standard brakes after numerous laps.
I have to say that now I have bedded in the pads, the stopping power is hugely better than
the standard 3.2 system. There is still good 'feel' from the brake pedal, it really gives you
confidence to brake later for corners, they really pull you up.
Just the rears to do now.

The service history shows the car had a complete engine rebuild 3000miles ago by specialist cars Maldon,(Strasse being one of the others)
:happy013:  in fact most of the servicing has been carried out by them.
They had sold the car twice in its history.
I had a new windscreen fitted as there were marks on the old one.
I have just purchased a by pass pipe on the exhaust after reading one of your messages as mine still has the cat.

In topic "Which Strut Brace"
Having used a strut brace on the majority of cars I have owned, road and competition cars, they do make a difference to the handling, however I am not convinced that it would make much of a difference to a 911.
The reason being, that the distance between the top of the front struts and the floor pan is quite small, therefore I would not expect too much flex between the suspension pillars.
In race use I would expect it to help, but for road use, I think it would be mainly cosmetic.
Quote: MarkJ at May 26, 2010 7:38:43 pm
Bought a Brey Krause strut brace off a DDK member just recently. Had been after one for ages and got it half price of shop advertised :) Its light as a feather despite being stainless steel.

Installed it without too much drama, though one of the strut mounts captive nuts had loosened off the underside of the wing and i had to do some contortion un-bolting from top and underside at the same time ! All done though. Have left it neutral for now, ie acting as pure front chassis stiffening. Will drive it for a short while like that then introduce a little bit of tension into it for a tad more camber and see how it feels.

That looks like a bit of a bargain.  Is it an OEM part?
Is it for a G50 or 915 box?
Let's see some pics.  Have you fitted it?  Wat is the reduction in the throw.

GENUINE Porsche part, for the 915 'Box.
I only ordered it today, so it will be a week or two arriving.
I'll post up a fitting guide with pics when it arrives.
It arrived TODAY!!!!!!
I only bought it on Friday, three days from the States via DHL, WOW.
Nice quality, looks a great bit of kit, the first bit of nice weather and I'll bung it in,
and take some pics. and do a 'How Too' of the installation
Started to fit it today, basically a piece of POO,about 75% of the parts are NOT required as they
mirror the ones you are taking off!!!
NOT the best of fits either, I've had to modify quite a lot of it, to get it to fit, as I want.
i.e. PERFECTLY.
I'll let you know how the rest goes.
Finished fitting it today, took the old girl out for a run to try it,
very happy with the result, crisper and smoother changes with it.

As I said, most of the bits are not needed, as the springs, fulcrum pin, gate locks
and top plate are identical, only the gearstick and the central shift box
are different.
I replaced everything anyway.
So after all the negative comments I've given this Shifter, I had a chance over the weekend to try it out in anger,
I have to say I'm Impressed by the shift change, It has transformed the gearchange from vague to positive.
I would recommend this shifter to anyone, easy to fit, and does what it says on the tin,PERFECT.
I was MSA Steward on the Tour Of Epynt, last weekend, so gave it a good blast over the Epynt Ranges, which I know
VERY well!!!!!

In forum "Induction"
In topic "Air Filter or Not?"
An interesting article in this month's Porsche Post, as to the pro's and con's of aftermarket
air filters V the standard set up.
The performance figures are suprising!

The personal philosophy I apply to modification is not too radical- it should be unseen or relatively easy to reverse - that way I keep my 'on the fence' feelings appeased. With that in mind one of the first modifications I undertook was to change the air filter. The air filter is often branded one of the greatest restrictions to your car's performance - replacement filter manufacturers often state 10+ bhp improvements. What makes modifications like this one attractive is the ease of access. It is fairly easy to perform, regardless ofability as a mechanic, and it's relatively cheap compared to other options.
"I went for a K&N replacement panel filter in this instance - it is a known quantity in terms of
quality, and is readily available from most places including internet stores. Expect to pay between £40 and £100 approx. for a direct replacement filter, depending on the manufacturer. It is a direct replacement for the standard filter and is simple to change. Just undo four clips and swap the filters. There is a clip on each corner of the air box cover. The two at the back can be a bit tricky to manipulate. On reassembly, the filter needs to be placed in the box before refitting the coverdue to the filter depth.
"It is always nice to see actual results of a modification, so a trip to the rolling road and we
get to see 'what's what'. "First off, it is a run with original filter with car up to temperature, to set a base line and ensure all is well with the motor. Theoretically this should be the run with least power. "Next a run without any filter or air box cover. I've noticed covers are available with most of the material removed, so wondered if the cover and snorkel is a restriction in itself. This run should give the best power as there will be no restriction to impede air flow into the air box inlet. "Just as an experiment, I did a run with no air box - that is a naked airflow meter. Call it curiosity. "The last run is with the replacement K&N filter, air box and cover, all back together. Interesting to see from the table below that this falls between run 1 and 2. Dyno run Modification bhp Torque on test.

1] Standard. BHP 225 TORQUE 190
2] No filter or cover. BHP 227 TORQUE 190.4
3] No air box. BHP 216.9 TORQUE 188.5
4] K&N filter. BHP 226.3 TORQUE 189.4

"It can be seen that we are not talking about massive power figures here - Porsche had a
pretty good handle on their intake design. The air box has an integral snorkel or trumpet. which
does a good job of smoothing air flow into the air flow meter . "Without the air box in place there is a significant drop in power. A lot of people junk air boxes, but I'm not sure about this one. I've read similar reports, with Clio Sports having aftermarket induction kits that do not better the factory effort.
"It takes me back to the days of just passing my driving test. A pal took his mum's 'hand-medown' to Halfords, junked the exhaust. and fitted the loudest they had - I had pity for his
neighbours. But it wasn't long before he drew the unwelcome attention of the law. He told me of
one dressing down, where the officer asked him what on earth led him to believe he was more
qualified than the car manufacturer, with their million-pound R&D department. It not only
stuck with me for being so funny, but also for being so true.
"In the end, the replacement filter gave me a 1.3bhp gain; and only O.7bhp down on no filter at all. "The bhp figures are down on Porsche's claimed 231, but I guess a 6bhp drop over 22 years is not bad for a non-rebuilt motor. More importantly, it picks up cleanly, doesn't burn oil, or hesitate, or have any flat spots. It may just be the rolling road I use, and it is important to use the same one regardless of how unflattering the figures may be
- it's the best way to gauge improvement (or not).

Awesome fellas'  Steve Wong gets good reviews for his chips.....
Where did you get yours Hu for less that £250....  Mind you even at £250 its a cheap upgrade.  What are the stated figures for his chip.

I was offered mine by chance, I was talking to someone about my car and he said he had an SW chip left from when he had a 911. I asked how much he wanted for it, and he said make me an offer,
so I offered him £100, and he said O.K. !!! (C)

This is taken from the website.

Q: How much power can I expect with your chip?

A: You can expect a 6-8% increase in horsepower and torque throughout the powerband on to redline, with a 10-20% increase in part throttle torque, horsepower and engine efficiency. Horsepower increases are approximately 12-16 hp and 20 lbs of torque through the powerband, with regions such as at 6500 with a 25-35 hp gain. The lag and delay currently experienced below 4000 rpm will be gone, with power coming on as soon as 1500 rpm and pulling hard all the way to the rev limit, providing much improved everyday drivability, throttle response and low and mid end torque. With more modifications to your motor, greater gains can be expected as the stock chip becomes more of a hindrance - as much as 20 hp with polished intake runners and a sport exhaust. At full throttle, the Motronic DME ignores all sensor inputs and injects no more fuel than has been factory preprogrammed for a stock motor. Modifications to the exhaust and induction system become a fruitless exercise without ignition mapping optimization and adequate fuel compensation, and fuel equals power. Since each chip is specifically tailored to meet each customer's specification and configuration, expect the maximum power derivable over a one size fits all chip solution. Expect at least a 0.5 second reduction in both your 0-60 and ¼ mile acceleration times.

In topic "My Latest Mods."
I've added a few bits to the 'old girl', thought you guys might like to have a look.
I bought a cheap strut brace off E-bay,(£29) just to see if it made any difference for road use,
I have to say, it seems to have made the front more positive in fast corners.
I've also fitted the turbo Tie Rod conversion, so this may have helped that as well.  :agree:

I have fitted the 9'' wheels to the rear, and put the 7'' on the front, looks MUCH better.action-smiley-035.gif

I have fitted a Sparco suede steering wheel, and an Alloy gear Knob, nice feel these give.

I do find that the bump steer has reduced somewhat,
No rubbing from the front, I fitted the 205's to the 7'' rims, and the 225's to the 9'' rims.
I'll measure the ride heights tomorrow.
I don't think I will lower it any more,
I tried it today with the strut brace disconnected, It defineately helps with the front
end steering, as It feels more positive with it connected.
Bump steer has reduced since fitting the Turbo Tie rods.

You HAVE to fit this type if you wish to use your car in any form of Competition as the Blue Book regulations dictate it.

Helpful Hints For Winter

Keep your headlights clear with car wax! Just wipe ordinary car wax on your headlights. It contains special water repellents that will prevent that messy mixture from accumulating on your lights - lasts 6 weeks.

Squeak-proof your wipers with rubbing alcohol! Wipe the wipers with a cloth saturated with rubbing alcohol or ammonia. This one trick can make badly streaking & squeaking wipers change to near perfect silence & clarity.

Ice-proof your windows with vinegar! Frost on it's way? Just fill a spray bottle with three parts vinegar to one part water & spritz it on all your windows at night. In the morning, they'll be clear of icy mess. Vinegar contains acetic acid, which raises the melting point of water---preventing water from freezing!

Prevent car doors from freezing shut with cooking spray! Spritz cooking oil on the rubber seals around car doors & rub it in with a paper towel. The cooking spray prevents water from melting into the rubber

Fog-proof your windshield with shaving cream! Spray some shaving cream on the inside of your windshield & wipe if off with paper towels. Shaving cream has many of the same ingredients found in commercial defoggers.

De-ice your lock in seconds with hand sanitizer! Just put some hand sanitizer gel on the key & the lock & the problems solved!

When changing bulbs smear Vaseline on the metal part, this will stop corrosion and creates a better contact. Also works when you've separated electrical plug and socket connections,
smear the pins & sockets with vaseline.

Took the 'old girl' out for a bit of a whizz today, as,
1) The sun was shining,
2) I haven't driven the car since Spa!
3) I'm going in to hospital on Wednesday for a Knee operation.
So I thought I'd go for a bit of a blast. Took her up the A470 to Brecon, had a great dice with a couple of bikers, who were very impressed that I could ''almost'' keep up with them.
I did tell them that I used to work in Brecon so I know the road like the back of my hand.
Decided to give her a bit more of a run, so over the mountain to Builth, and then on to Llandrindod, via the B road, just loving the noise and the car.
Just got back and cleaned her up and put her to bed for at least 6 weeks before I'll be able to drive her again.
Well, 2 weeks after my knee op. I'm off the crutches and walking about.
The knee is sore, but not painfull at all.
Went for a little drive today as well, so things are looking up.

I covered about 420 miles, so it was a good test for the new SW chip.
What a difference, the car picks up better, feels much smoother accelerating and does feel quicker, a much nicer car to drive now, and I still had 1/4 tank of fuel left !!!

This is a really fast stretch from Builth to Rayader, fast and flowing for about 12 miles.

This is the run down the mountain into Dolgellau, Flat out for 4 miles.!

This is Blaenau Ffestiniog, with all the slate hills.

It appears they put it all back together, with new stainless crossover and intermediate
exhaust pipes.................................................
and it wouldn't start!!!!
Apparantly needs a new crank sensor, so hopefully I can collect it tomorrow.
Collected the car today, it turned out that it was not the crank sensor,
some dimwit had fitted a STAINLESS bolt to the flywheel, so the sensor
would not pick it up, as Stainless is non-magnetic.
Porsche were very apologetic, and gave me the sensor FOC.
Total bill came to just over £1300.
New clutch, clutch cable, flywheel & bolts, 5 hoses, engine oil & filter, gearbox oil,

Awesome Hu.  I've emailed for mine.....  How long does it take to come?

Mine took about a month, they wait until they have a bundle of them, as the head honcho
signs them all by HAND.
It will indeed.

In topic "Gutted!!!!!"
Noticed a small paint bubble the other day, next to the N/S headlight, gave it a quick
rub down yesterday, looked as though it was just moisture under the paint.
Had a good go at it today, got the Dremel at it, and it's not suface rust,
it is actullay perforated from the inside out. censored.gif
Really pi$$ed off now, looks like a new wing in the not too distant
future, I'll patch it up for now with the old Kurust and top coat.
